Reggae is a Globally Celebrated Music Genre and Cultural Movement that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s

Reggae developed from earlier Jamaican genres including mento, ska, and rocksteady, and is rooted in traditional drumming styles such as Kumina, Pukkumina, Revival Zion, Nyabinghi, and burru. It incorporates elements of rhythm and blues, jazz, mento which was conflated with calypso by the 1950s) and traditional African folk rhythms.

Bob Marley (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Considered one of the pioneers of Reggae. He fused elements of reggae, ska, and rocksteady, and was renowned for his distinctive vocal and songwriting style.Marley increased the visibility of Jamaican music worldwide and became a global figure in popular culture.

Ska is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae.It combined elements of Caribbean Calypso with American Jazz and Rhytm and Blues.

Jimmy Cliff (born James Chambers, July 30, 1944 – November 24, 2025) was a legendary Jamaican ska, rocksteady, and reggae musician. He was instrumental in introducing reggae to global audiences and starred in the 1972 landmark Jamaican film The Harder They Come.

Peter Tosh was a legendary Jamaican Reggae Musician. As a core founding member of The Wailers alongside Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, he shaped the Foundation of Reggae.

Byron Lee (27 June 1935 – 4 November 2008), was a Jamaican musician, record producer, and entrepreneur, best known for his work as leader of Byron Lee and the Dragonaires.

To the south lies the coastline of the continent of South America.
